UPDATE ON AUG 18, 01:112 PM IST
A major accident was averted on Monday afternoon near the Tarbahar-Sirgitti railway gate just before the Bilaspur railway station. The engine of a train started without driver and left the loco shed towards Sirgitti towards Bilaspur station. After running on the track for some distance, the engine broke down the poles and the signal and hit the road. The engine kept dragging on the road for about 100 meters. The place where the accident took place is the busiest area of the city. Thankfully no one was hit by the engine. Witnesses say that when they saw the engine up close, there was no driver in it. During the interrogation of the officers, it has come to the notice of a cleaning worker of the loco shed that the engine was started and started.
eye of the accident Surendra Swarnakar's shop is near the accident site. Surendra says that he was busy in his work that suddenly at 3 o'clock in the afternoon there was a sound of lightning, similar to a loud explosion. We didn't understand anything. When I looked on the side of the railway line, an engine was seen leaving the track and breaking three or four pillars on the side and dragged on the road. All the people who were here were very scared. We were on the other side of the road, so we were saved. There was a bike parked on the side of the road where the engine reached. She fell in love with him. The engine stalled after about 100 meters of drag. We didn't go to the engine right away. After 3-4 minutes, dared to pass. When I looked inside the engine, its door on the rail line side was open and there was no one inside. The driver had either run away or the driver was not there. Others present on the spot tell that this road is very crowded. There is a lot of traffic here in the morning and evening. The crowd was less as it was noon and hence no one got hit, otherwise there would have been a big accident.
Engine ran about 1.5 km without pilot No one is ready to tell how this accident happened. He says that it is not yet decided whether a pilot took out the engine from the loco shed or if it was accidentally started by someone and left. An official says that there is a lot of apprehension that the engine got started due to some negligence and started running on the track due to lack of brakes.
After a while the engine needs control. When he could not get control, he left the track and got down on the road. If the words of this officer are true, then the distance of the shed, where the engines are parked, is about 1.5 kilometers from the side gate on which the engine landed. Meaning the engine continued to run for 1 kilometer without a driver. However, investigation is also being done to see if there was any pilot in the engine and he fled after the accident as the door was open.
