Jhansi. After a long wait, finally the work of beautifying Laxmi Tal started under the Smart City Mission. After the issue of work order recently, work has started on the spot. Initially, the leveling work is being done around the pool. The entire pool will be beautified at a cost of about Rs.39.49 crore. This work has to be completed within 18 months.
Laxmi Tal is also one of the few selected identities of Old Jhansi. The memories of Raja Gangadhar Rao are also associated with this rhythm, but in the last five decades, the rhythm has become a victim of plight. The condition is that a part of it has been illegally occupied. The beauty of the pool has also been destroyed due to the continuous filling of dirty water. About two years ago, through the Smart City Mission, a plan was made to beautify the pool, but due to technical difficulties and the agency was not fixed, the matter remained pending for a long time.
After the signing of the OMU in August, work started on the spot, although officials say that the work has not yet picked up the expected pace. There are huge stones at three places inside the pool. They have to be leveled. Some constructions around the Tal are of antiquated importance. The Archaeological Department has declared them protected. In such a situation, permission has been sought from ASI for this part. At present, the leveling work has been started. Here more than half a dozen works are to be done at a total cost of Rs 39,49,22,826. It will be developed as a picnic spot along with beautification. People can also enjoy boating here. According to the officer-in-charge Shadab Aslam, work on the project has been started.
