After a long time of wait and protest by the Ex-Service men community of armed forces, PM Narender Modi today tweeted in his official account about OROP and their commitment for One Rank & One Pension.
In his tweet, the PM said, “On OROP – the Govt is committed to OROP & there’s no doubt about it.”
OROP-One Rank, One Pension is a long awaited scheme for armed forces. As per this scheme, soldiers with same length of service and retired from same ranks will get the same pension amount irrespective of the date of retirement.
As till date there is a major gap in the present pension amount of a soldier retired in 2015 & a soldier retired 15 years back. This scheme is to remove the gap as the employment life of a soldier is very short as compared to other government services. Also they have to live a very difficult life in the course of their service.
