The first and last time atomic bombs were used in the world was in World War II, when the United States attacked two Japanese cities, Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The US dropped the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima on 6 August 1945 and the second on Nagasaki on 9 August 1945.
Exactly 76 years ago today i.e. on August 6, 1945, America carried out a nuclear attack on the city of Hiroshima, Japan. Three days later, the second atomic bomb was dropped on the Japanese city of Nagasaki. Both cities were almost completely destroyed. More than two lakh people lost their lives and those who survived, their lives became worse than hell. Let's know about the biggest tragedy of the world so far... In the year 1945, the Second World War was reaching its turning point. The Allied victory was almost certain. Germany had surrendered and it was only Japan which was fighting the Allies. In July 1945, US President Harry Truman, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill and Soviet Union leader Joseph Stalin met in Potsdam, Germany. It was decided here that if Japan does not surrender unconditionally, then strict steps will have to be taken against it.
1.40 lakhs died in Hiroshima On August 6, 1945, at around 8 in the morning, an atomic bomb was attacked on Hiroshima. This attack was so tremendous that more than 1.40 lakh people died on sight. After the bomb blasts, the temperature rose so much that people were burnt to ashes. Within a minute, 80 percent of the city of Hiroshima was reduced to ashes.
The devastation did not stop there. Thereafter, thousands of people died of diseases related to nuclear radiation. A study showed that there was black rain in 29 km area of the bombing site. Due to which the deaths increased and this black rain also contaminated everything that came in contact with it.
About 70 thousand people died in Nagasaki Before Japan could recover from this attack, the US dropped the second atomic bomb on Nagasaki on August 9. Japan was completely ruined by these two attacks within 3 days. The exact figure of those who died is not known till date. It is believed that 1.40 lakh people died in Hiroshima and about 70 thousand in Nagasaki. In addition, thousands of people were injured. The scars of this tragedy are still present in the people of Japan.
