UPDATE ON AUG 18, 11:35 AM IST
To free Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist Azhar Masood, terrorists had kidnapped three foreign nationals from Hapur in 1994 and kept them locked in a house in Khatkhedi, Saharanpur.
The roots of terror in western UP are very deep. Sometimes suspicious activities have been exposed from Kairana of Shamli and sometimes from Saharanpur. The special thing is that the activism of terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed in western UP was also first revealed in Saharanpur itself. In such a situation, the commando training center of the ATS to be built in Deoband will be important in many ways, through which the terrorist activities can be inflicted by the ATS.
In fact, in order to free Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist Azhar Masood, the terrorists had kidnapped three foreign nationals from Hapur in 1994 and kept them locked in a house in Khatkhedi of Saharanpur. The car by which foreign nationals were brought to Saharanpur,His driver was caught in Ghaziabad district. After this, there was a siege of terrorists in Khatakhedi and during the encounter two policemen including Inspector Dhruvlal Yadav were martyred. One terrorist was also killed, but many terrorists escaped. Then the foreign nationals were freed.
This was the first incident in which the activism of Jaish-e-Mohammed in western UP was exposed. However, after this, Jaish-e-Mohammed's area commander Mohammad Waras was also arrested from village Jaula in Muzaffarnagar district. Apart from this, recently, Salim, a resident of Kairana in Shamli district and his brother were arrested by the NIA and ATS in the parcel blast case at Darbhanga railway station in Bihar. Apart from this, such suspects have been arrested from Muzaffarnagar, Shamli and Saharanpur in the earlier years. Obviously, if the commando training center of ATS is built in Deoband, a close watch can be kept on suspicious activities in the surrounding districts as well.
