Virtual fundraiser 'Vax.India.Now' has helped India in its fight against COVID-19. Through this, more than $ 5 million (Rs 37.18 crore) has been raised.
A month ago there was an international event, in which stars like AR Rahman, Sting, Liam Neeson, Annie Lennox, Pia Toscano, Zubin Mehta participated. The event was live streamed worldwide by CNN and Dreamstage.live on July 7. It was hosted by Hasan Minhaj.
The virtual fundraiser 'Vax.India.Now' is the brainchild of Anuradha Juju Palakurthi, who runs a foundation in New England to promote Indian culture. Palkurthi was shaken by the deaths due to corona virus in India. It also had a profound effect on his family and friends. When the virus was at its peak,Then it was infecting 4 lakh people in a day. According to the World Health Organization, 3.2 crore cases of Kovid-19 (COVID-19) have been confirmed, including 4.28 lakh deaths. A total of 479 million (47.9 crore) vaccines have been administered so far. Now the rate of infection has come down to 35 thousand per day.
According to media reports, Palakurthi had said in an interview, 'We are thankful to the generosity of big and small donors from all over the world, who came together to support the campaign 'Vax.India.Now' to save lives. I am grateful to the celebrities who gave their time and talent for this work…'
Palakurthi further says, 'Special thanks to the Indian team, who had to work during the nationwide lockdown. This campaign is still running on 'VaxindiaNow.com' (VaxIndiaNow.com). We are all in this together. The program of vaccinating people should continue, so that more variants can be prevented and Kovid-19 can be eliminated.
